Eureka High School Class of 1945 Scholarship

Due Friday May 20, 2011
The Eureka High School Class of 1945 is offering two scholarships, one for a male student and one for a female student in the amount of $500. This is a one time, non-renewable scholarship. You must be attending College of the Redwoods and have a GPA of 2.5 or better.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Graduating Senior from Eureka High School
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must attend College of the Redwoods
  • Proof of enrollment will be required by the recipient in order to receive the scholarship.
To Apply Submit the Following:
  1. Completed application
  2. Personal statement, 1-2 pages in length answering the following questions: Why are you applying for this scholarship; what your goals are for the future and what is the most difficult experience you've had to overcome in your life so far?
  3. Official High School transcript
Pick up an application in the Counseling Office today. This deadline is NEXT FRIDAY, MAY 13 so get them filled out and turned in quickly.

Scholarships due Friday, May 6, 2011

  • Henderson Center Kiwanis Club
These are excellent local scholarships and so far, we have very few applications. This is an great opportunity to get some money for college. Come in to the Counseling Office and pick up copies of these today!

Letters of Intent

Seniors! May 1st is the date you should have sent your letter of intent to the school you have chosen to attend. Please email a copy of your letter to your counselor or stop by the Counseling Office to let us know where you are going. We want to celebrate and to let others know where our students are headed! If you have any questions, stop in to see  your counselor.

SAT Test, Saturday May 7, 2011

SAT Test will be administered Saturday May 7, 2011 at the high school from 7:45am-1:00pm.

Registration deadline for the June 4, 2011, the  final SAT test to be given for this school year is Friday May 6, 2011.

Registration deadline for the June 11, 2011 ACT test is also Friday May 6, 2011.

If you are in AVID or on the free/reduced lunch program, you may be eligible for a fee waiver. Stop in the counseling office to pick one up.

Scholarship News: Scholarships coming due and we have no applications!

We have several LOCAL scholarships coming due in the next few weeks that we have not received one application for! This is money that will not be awarded if there are no applicants! Now is the time to apply, you could be the only one! Come into the Counseling Office and check out the scholarship box. There is money out there, don't let it slip away!

We have some more scholarship winners!

  • Khoua Vang has received the KFC Scholars award in the amount of $20,000
  • Kaitlyn Chorbi has received the Mason's of California scholarship award in the amount of $10,000 and the California Eastern Star award in the amount of $1,000
  • Xochitl Fregoso has received a $25,000 scholarship from the California College of the Arts.
It is so awesome to be able to share this news about our outstanding students! Keep up the good work, there are still many more dollars to be awarded. Stay tuned and we will keep you updated on more success stories! And if you win a scholarship, stop by and let us know!

CSEA #88 Scholarship Applications Available

Deadline May 20, 2011

If you have a parent that is in the California State Employees Association Chapter #88 and they work for Eureka City Schools, you may be eligible for a $250 Scholarship. The deadline is coming up fast so come in to the counseling office and pick up an application today.

Criteria:
  • Must be a graduating senior with a parent or guardian who is a member of CSEA Union Local #88
  • Financial need is considered
  • Minimum GPA of 2.0
What to turn in:
  1. Completed application
  2. 100-250 word essay describing your most rewarding experience during your high school years
  3. Cover letter describing yourself and your goals
  4. Current high school transcript
  5. One letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor employer, etc.
Turn your completed application packet in to the counseling office by 3:30 on Friday, May 20 2011
