Redwood Technology Consortium Don Wolski Memorial Scholarship

The Redwood Technology Consortium invites all graduating high school seniors to apply for the 2011 Don Wolski Memorial Scholarship award of $1,500.


To apply for the scholarship, applicants must submit a 500-800 word essay.


The topics for this year’s competition, of which applicants need only choose one, are:


What would be the best local ideas for utilizing the capabilities of technology and social
media (Facebook/Twitter/Foursquare/Yelp/Groupon) to promote and stimulate the local
economy?
What would be the best local ideas for utilizing the capabilities of technology and social 
media (Facebook/Twitter/Foursquare/Yelp/Groupon) for educational purposes?


Please state the question you are answering at the top of the page, along with your name, phone number and e-mail address.




Requirements:


1. Students must be a 2011 graduating Humboldt, Del Norte, Mendocino or Trinity County
senior, who will attend an accredited institution of higher education in the 2011-2012
school year.
2. The essay must be between 500-800 words in length.
3. Along with your essay, please include 2 adult references and a brief letter from each
attesting to your character.
4. Send your essay and letters as Microsoft Word documents or Adobe Acrobat PDFs to:

BigSun Organization Scholarship

This is a scholarship for students who are athletes who also excel in academics. This scholarship is sponsored by the BigSun Organization. This is a $500 award. There is still lots of time to apply for this!

CR Orientation Field Trip Students

If  you are going on the CR Orientation field trip, you will need to meet at the bus area at 9:15 on Monday May 23, 2011. If you haven't turned in your permission slip to the counseling office by the end of the day today (May 20), make sure to bring your signed permission slip with you. You will need it to have it in order to go on the field trip. Your teachers have been notified that you will be out of class from 9:15- 12:35.

Scholarships Due Friday May 20, 2011

Friday May 20, 2011 is a busy day for turning in scholarship applications! The following scholarships are due on May 20
  • Harold W. Adams Scholarship: based on high academic achievement, GPA 3.5 or better, financial need and involvement in extracurricular activities and community service
  • Orion Vance/Pettengill Family Memorial Scholarships: Eureka High graduating senior; 3.3 GPA or higher, involvement in extracurricular activities and community service.
  • John and Phyllis Craig Memorial Scholarship: GPA 2.0 or higher, must have overcome an obstacle or hardship in life such as a learning disability.
  • CSEA #88 Scholarship: Parent or guardian must be a member of CSEA Union Local #88, based on financial need and GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Applications for all of these scholarships are located in the Scholarship Box in the Counseling Office. You still have time to get these filled out and turned in. These are all local scholarships and we don't have a lot of applications for these so you have a good chance at this money.

Today is the final deadline for the following scholarships! We don't have many applications turned in yet so there is still time:

  • James Kwan Memorial Scholarship: 3.0 GPA, planning to major in fine arts including visual and performing $200
  • Ralph E. Bumpus Memorial Scholarship: 2.0 GPA, planning to attend College of the Redwoods Automotive Technology Program $1,000
  • Ginny Wythe Memorial Scholarship: 2.0 GPA and have benefited from academic tutoring or mentoring through the After School Tutoring Center, AmeriCorps, or the Odyssey Program at Eureka High
Due on May 19, 2011 the Quota Club Scholarship. (Based on service hours)

More Scholarship Congratulations!!

We are pleased to announce that we have two more outstanding students who have received scholarships!
  • Randi Schorlig has received the Rotary Club of Eureka Scholarship in the amount of $750

  • Kaitlyn Chorbi has received 2 more: The California Scottish Rite Foundation in the amount of $4,000, and the Job's Daughters Grand Guardian Council of California in the amount of $2,500.

Eureka High School Class of 1945 Scholarship deadline has been extended!!!

The deadline has been extended because we need more applicants! We need both boys and girls to apply but especially boys. Don't miss out on this $500 opportunity!!!

The Eureka High School Class of 1945 is offering two scholarships, one for a male student and one for a female student in the amount of $500. This is a one time, non-renewable scholarship. You must be attending College of the Redwoods and have a GPA of 2.5 or better.

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Graduating Senior from Eureka High School
  • Minimum GPA of 2.5
  • Must attend College of the Redwoods
  • Proof of enrollment will be required by the recipient in order to receive the scholarship.
To Apply Submit the Following:
  1. Completed application
  2. Personal statement, 1-2 pages in length answering the following questions: Why are you applying for this scholarship; what your goals are for the future and what is the most difficult experience you've had to overcome in your life so far?
  3. Official High School transcript
Pick up an application in the Counseling Office today. This deadline is NEXT FRIDAY, MAY 20 so get them filled out and turned in quickly.
