Summer is almost here!

It's finals week and summer is just around the corner.

Seniors:
Some of you will need to have copies of your final transcripts for college and scholarships. Make sure you get your request in now! Pick up a request form from the registrar’s office and get it turned in ASAP.

Everyone:
CR’s Summer Math Review Program:
Don’t forget about this awesome opportunity to improve or refresh your math skills this summer at CR. Here are your options:

Three levels to choose from:
· Math 301: Pre-Algebra Review
· Math 302: Elementary Algebra Review
· Math 303: Intermediate Algebra Review

*  When:  2 weeks in July (July 9-19), Monday-Thursday, 2 hours/day (8 class sessions)

*  Where:  At the main CR campus in Eureka.

*  How it works:  Students attend class, receive instruction, and also work on their own using CR's Optimath online mathematics practice system.

*  Optimath website for these courses:  http://mathrev.redwoods.edu/mathjam/  Students registered in any of these courses will have passwords, and work done in the Optimath system will be saved for future reference.

* Note:  Students must be CR students and register in order to take one of these courses.

With the online option below,  you DON’T have to be a registered CR student and you can do this at your own pace.

CR Math Review WEBSITE
*  Three levels to choose from:
Review of Pre-Algebra
Review of Elementary Algebra
Review of Intermediate Algebra
*  When:  Any Time that a person has Internet access
*  Where:  Anywhere that the person has Internet access
*  How it works:  Students read the lessons with examples and built-in practice, and also work on their own using CR's Optimath online mathematics practice system.
*  Optimath website for self-paced review:  http://mathrev.redwoods.edu/mathjam/  Students doing the self-paced review do not need a password -- and work done is not saved in the Optimath system.

Note:  Anyone can do this -- need not be a CR student.

Year End Information for Graduating Seniors and Their Parents

May is here and many fun events and important traditions are scheduled for our graduating seniors and their families.

Powderpuff Football
6:00 PM on Thursday the 24th of May is when this annual event is being held. Students involved in this event all ready have their information packets and permission forms. As in the past, behavior at this year’s event will determine if we hold it in 2013. When it comes to behavior, students need to remember to pay-it-forward. This is a drug and alcohol free event, so breathalyzers will be in use.

Picnic
The annual Senior Picnic is scheduled for Friday, June 1st. As in the past, the location of the picnic will remain a secret until seniors arrive at the spot. Dress in layers, including a swim suit. Food, fun, and games are all included. All standards for participation apply. The last day to clear fees for this event is the end of school on Wednesday, May 30th. This is a drug and alcohol free event, so breathalyzers will be in use.

Senior Prom
Prom is set for Saturday June 2nd at Fortuna River Lodge. Tickets will be available in the Finance Office. All standards for participation apply. The last day to clear fees for this event is the end of school on Wednesday May 30th. This is a drug and alcohol free event, so breathalyzers will be in use. Please remember this is a formal/semi-formal event. Appropriate attire must be worn at all times.

Honors Night
This year we will recognize our outstanding academic and athletic seniors on the evening of June 8th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Each year tens of thousands of dollars worth of scholarships are awarded from both local and national groups.

Pathway Completion and Cords
Any seniors working to complete a pathway, the following must be completed in order to receive the graduation cord:
1.      Record all service hours before May 25th
2.      Accomplish all tasks on the Senior Project Moodle site if you are not in Student Government or EAST
3.      Have the Project Mentor Form (see Mrs. Jackson or pathway teacher for a form) filled out with pathway classes listed and a signature of a pathway teacher
Graduation
  1. Graduation Practice: All graduating seniors must attend practice in order to participate in the afternoon’s ceremony. Seniors should plan to gather in the Small Gym at 8:00 AM on Friday June 15th. Practice will end at 10:30 AM. Students should not bring their cap and gown to practice.

  1. Graduation Ceremony:
·  Ceremony begins at 2:00 PM on Friday June 15th in Albee Stadium.
·  Seniors should arrive in the Small Gym by 1:15 PM
·  Seniors should arrive with their cap and gown in hand, not already on. The Eureka High School Graduation Ceremony is a formal event. To that end, we will be screening for and confiscating balloons, blow-up toys, Silly String, and other inappropriate objects. We ask that parents and guests support this policy and help ensure the event remains formal and respectful to all those participating and in attendance.
·  Seniors with outstanding debt will not receive their official diploma until the debt is cleared. Additionally, final transcripts will not be mailed.
·  Parking for guests with special needs is available through the Del Norte Gate at the field level. This parking is limited to vehicles with the appropriate designation.
·  Tina’s photography will once again be available to take photos of seniors in their cap and gown after practice and before the ceremony. They can be reached at 442-0914.
·  The Graduation DVD will also be available for $15.00. An order form is being sent out so watch your mail!

3.   Safe and Sober Party: Hopefully you received in the mail and have returned          the permission form for this wonderful and safe graduation party held the evening of Graduation. This year’s event will be held at Eureka High School. The doors open at 9:00 PM and all graduates must be in the doors by 10:00 PM. The party will last until 3:00 AM. Tickets are $25.00 before May 30th and $35.00 after that. Great prizes will be given away all night, with the biggest and best prizes saved for the 2:00 AM hour, prizes like a lap top and the key that just might start the donated car. Across the nation, Safe and Sober Graduation Parties have significantly reduced the number of deaths on graduation night. Please support this effort and let’s ensure all of our graduates make it safely into bed before the sun comes up on Saturday. If you would like to contribute or volunteer for this event, please contact Lori Knight at 445-3438.
