The Wendy's High School Heisman is now taking applications!
"The Wendy’s High School Heisman Program is looking for all types of high-achieving seniors from more than 29,000 public and private high schools within the U.S. We consider young men and women who participate in a wide range of sports and school and community activities. If you’re one of the 1.4 million high school athletes across the country that excels in the classroom, on the field, and within your school and community."
Who is eligible:
To achieve award eligibility for the 2012 Wendy’s High School Heisman Program, students must be seniors during the 2012/2013 academic years, graduating with the class of 2013.
Applicants must:
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better (B or better)
- Must participate in at least one of the listed eligible school-sponsored sports (List of eligible sports is on the website. There will be a link at the end of this post)
- Must have leadership qualities in school and in the community and be a good role model for underclassmen

Every senior who applies for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program receives:
- A 2012 Wendy’s High School Heisman Program Official Certificate recognizing participation in the Heisman Trophy award program and the applicant’s proven ability to learn, perform, and lead.
- A chance to win a Wendy’s Gift Card worth $10 – $50. Just be one of the first 25,000 applicants to apply!
School Winner:
One senior male and one senior female from every school will be selected as a School Winner. School Winners receive:
- A School Winner Certificate and Heisman Patch
102 State Winners:
From the School Winners, 20 finalists—10 senior males and 10 senior females—from every state and the District of Columbia will advance to State Finalists. Each State Finalist receives:
- Bronze Medal
- Heisman Patch
- $25 Wendy’s Gift Card
12 National Finalists:
The judging panel will select 12 National Finalists from the 102 State Winners. The National Finalists include 1 senior male and 1 senior female from each of the six geographic Heisman regions. National Finalists receive:
- An invitation to the Wendy’s High School Heisman Program Heisman Memorial Trophy Weekend, including the National Awards Banquet in New York City
- Gold Medal
- Heisman Patch
- $2,000 award donated to the winners’ high schools in the students’ names
- $100 Wendy’s Gift Card
2 National Award Winners:
The judging panel will select 1 senior male and 1 senior female from the 12 National Finalists as National Wendy’s High School Heisman Winners. National Award Winners receive:
- National honor and recognition during ESPN’s national telecast of the college Heisman Memorial Trophy presentation
- Wendy’s High School Heisman Trophy
- Heisman Patch
- $10,000 award donated to the winners’ high schools in the students’ names
- $500 Wendy’s Gift Card
