Here are a few of the scholarships that are coming due in February:
Soroptimist International of Humboldt Bay and Eureka Distinguished Youth Scholarship:
Deadline: Must be postmarked by February 1, 2012
This award is given in recognition of outstanding contributions made by young people to home, school, community and the world. This is a cash award.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Graduating senior from any area high school
- Taken an active part in service to the home, school ans/or community
- Show a high degree of cooperation, courtesy and consideration for others
- Demonstrated the ability to lead with self-control, dignity and responsibility
- Pursued his/her goals with commitment and purpose.
Applications can be picked up in the counseling office in the scholarship box.
2012 Beverage Industry College Scholarship Program
Deadline: February 1, 2012
Qualifications:
- Applicant's Parent or Grandparent is employed full time with a company or individual holding a valid California liquor/beer/wine license. These would include hotels, restaurants, wholesale grocery/retail grocer/drug stores/ convenience stores/wineries/breweries/airlines and others.
- High school student participating in athletics and/or performing arts during BOTH 11th and 12th grades.
- Demonstrates outstanding community citizenship as evidenced by student's written essay
- Planning to attend a four-year college or university
Beverage Industry Scholarship Program

California State PTA/PTSA Graduating Senior Scholarship
Deadline:February 1, 2012
Qualifications:
- California Resident
- Graduate from a California high school
- Must be a member of his/her school PTA/PTSA and have a copy of your current membership card
You will need to submit the following:
- Completed application form
- Legible copy of applicants current PTA/PTSA membership card
- Essay (topic is given on scholarship application)
- Reference forms and letters in sealed envelopes
Applications are available in the counseling office in the scholarship box.
KFC Scholars Scholarship Program
Deadline February 8, 2012
Eligibility:
- Graduate from a high school this academic year (2011-2012)
- Minimum GPA 2.75
- Plan to pursue a Bachelor's degree at a public, in-state college or university (start date no later than 9/30/12)
- US citizen or permanent resident
- Demonstrate financial need
- May attend either a 2-or-4 year accredited in-state college or university
