Prudential Spirit of Community Awards- Due Nov. 1, 2011

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is the United States' largest youth recognition program based exclusively on volunteer community service.

Created in 1995 by Prudential Financial in partnership with NASSP (National Association of Secondary School Principals) the program has honored more than 90,000 young volunteers at the local, state, and national level.

Who can apply:

Any student in grades 5-12 who is a legal resident of any U.S. state or the District of Columbia and who has conducted a volunteer service activity within the 12 months prior to the date of the application.

If you've made a difference through volunteering over the past year, you could win $1,000 and a fabulous trip to Washington, D.C. next May by applying for a Prudential Spirit of Community Award!

How to apply:

Applications are done online as follows:

 

Navigate to “Apply Now” (see link above), and follow the on-screen instructions.

Once you have completed your online application, go to the “Certification” page to either email certification instructions to your certifier or to print them out and hand-deliver them. These instructions will enable your certifier to review your application online. This must be done by November 1, 2011. Your certifier can be your school principal.

Print out the signature page of your application, sign it, have a parent or guardian sign it, and then either mail or scan and upload it to the application site by November 1, 2011.  (If you do not have Internet access, please call 877-525-8491 toll-free to receive a paper form.)
