This scholarship is offered to children of active duty law enforcement and fire service personnel in the State of California graduating from high school in 2012. There are 11 regional awards of $750, one statewide award of $1,750 and two national awards, first place $7,500 and Second place $2,500.
Eligibility criteria:
- Must be a graduating senior who will receive a diploma from a California accredited high school.
- Must be accepted for admission to an accredited college or university
- Must have a parent or legal guardian who is full-time active duty employee, not on disability, member of a law enforcement agency or a full-time or volunteer member of a fire department located in California.
- Proof of enrollment in high school via an official high school transcript AND SAT/ACT scores
- Proof of acceptance to a college or university (letter is acceptable)
- Proof of parents/guardians occupations (ID or supervisory letter acceptable)
- Typed 500-700 word essay (subject of essay is on application)
- Letter of recommendation from teacher, counselor or other agency regarding extracurricular activities
