Humboldt State University’s Natural History Museum is Looking for Volunteers!

If you are looking for a volunteer position for a week in the summer, like science and working with children check out this opportunity.

HSU’s Natural History Museum is now recruiting volunteer teaching assistants for its summer youth program.

There are several age group classes. The 4-5 year old classes have a maximum of 10 and are offered from 10:00am-12:00pm. The 6-9 year old classes have a maximum of 12 students and are offered from 1:00pm-4:00pm. Classes will be held between June 25-August 10, 2012

Requirements:
·   Must have experience working with children and an interest in science
·   The museum requires a minimum full week commitment but you may volunteer for more than one week. For the week commitment, you can either volunteer for either the morning or afternoon class or you can volunteer for the whole day.

Duties: Assist the instructors in activities, group management and other duties as needed. Teaching assistants do not plan activities or have any overall responsibility for creating the class. The museum staff expects all volunteer teaching assistants to arrive 15 minutes before and after class time to help prepare for and clean up before and after class.
