Humboldt Area Foundation Scholarships--Requesting more applicants!

Deadline March 15 at 5:00pm

These scholarships are available and so far have very few applicants! These are all offered through the Humboldt Area Foundation and you only need to fill out one application to apply to all of these. Several of these are for EHS students only so you have a good chance of winning these scholarships. Every dollar counts when you are paying for college. Don't miss out on these opportunities! They want to award these scholarships! (Eureka only scholarships are highlighted in purple)
 
Friel Family Scholarships


1 Award(s) in the Amount of $400


Howard Friel, now retired, taught and coached many, many years for Eureka City Schools. Although he taught math, he always felt English was the most important subject.  The annual Scholarship award will be in the amount of $400. Candidates described by the following criteria are eligible:

The Gallon Memorial Scholarship
1 Award in the Amount of $250


This scholarship was established in memory of members of the Gallon Family. The annual scholarship award will be in the amount of $250. Candidates described by the following criteria are eligible:

Eureka High School, Fortuna High School or HSU
s  Level:
Graduating senior or currently enrolled at HSU
s  G.P.A.:
Minimum 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)

Greenwood Family Scholarship
1 Award(s) in the Amount of $500


Charlotte Greenwood, the widow of William R. (Bill) Greenwood, a well-known Eureka businessman, established this scholarship in his memory and in honor of their family.  One annual scholarship of $500 will be awarded.  Candidates described by the following criteria are eligible:

This fund was established in memory of Edith Howard by her husband, Jim.  One scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded annually to African-American graduates of Eureka High School or St. Bernard High School.  Previous recipients are encouraged to reapply.  Candidates described by the following criteria are eligible:

Eldred I. (Bo) MacMillan Scholarship

This award was established in memory of “Bo” MacMillan.  A $500 scholarship will be awarded annually to a student pursuing a course of study in Civil Engineering.  Candidates described by the following criteria are eligible:

Mary & Melvin “Skip” Matson Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Melvin Gus “Skip” Matson, by his wife Mary.  Mr. Matson was a native and resident of Eureka, and a lifelong commercial fisherman.  A $500 scholarship will be awarded to a Eureka High School student on “odd years” and a Fortuna High School student on “even years”.  In 2012 this scholarship will be awarded to a Eureka High student.  Candidates described by the following criteria are eligible:

Melvin & Leona Peterson Memorial Scholarship

Leona E. Peterson established this scholarship in 1985 to honor her husband Melvin T. Peterson. This $500 scholarship will be awarded annually. Candidates described by the following criteria are eligible:
